The news continues to be dominated by the moves that the US and Russia are making towards each other, including of course the meeting in Riyadh.

The key point to understand about the latter is that the key US concern is not the conflict in Ukraine - which is lost, and which the Russians have won, as the US well knows - but what comes after. For the US it is now imperative to restore some sort of dialogue or relationship with Russia, now conclusively re-established as a Great Power, as the US tries to re-organise itself and square off against China.

Meanwhile the Europeans are having hysterics, as their powerlessness is exposed.
