The tiresome narrative of the 'stalemate' in the Ukraine war is now falling apart, with no sign however of Western governments rethinking their policies.

Meanwhile across the West economic and political news shows further deterioration. In the US it looks as if the real economy is indeed in recession, whilst even the FT is now admitting that the process of deindustrialisation in Germany is becoming unstoppable. Meanwhile in the UK, as predicted, plots to oust Starmer are now out there in the open.

As for the various wars, it looks like the Venezuela war unfortunately is back on track, with the USS Gerald Ford carrier now in the Caribbean. Lavrov by the way says that Russia has received no request for military help from Venezuela and has referenced the geographical distance between Venezuela and Russia, which makes meaningful military aid by Russia to Venezuela all but impossible.
