India's NIA (National Investigation Agency) now says an American mercenary and six Ukrainians are behind the drone attack on a Myanmar civilian airliner earlier this year, per a court filing from this week.

The NIA says Matthew Aaron VanDyke, an American mercenary who previously fought in Libya's civil war and trained Ukraine's military through his firm Sons of Liberty International, ran the network behind the February 20, 2026 FPV drone strike on a Myanmar National Airlines ATR-72-600 at Myitkyina Airport, alongside six Ukrainian nationals: Viktor Kaminskyi, Petro Hurba, Taras Slyviak, Ivan Sukmanovskyi, Marian Stefankiv, and Maksim Honcharuk.
