The US has no viable military options. One snarky note: People like Col Wilkerson and Chas Freeman who believe that fossil fuels cause global warming should be happy about this. It will accelerate the transition of the world economy away from fossil fuels. These folks, who are pushing wind and solar energy, don't mention that the lack of fossil fuels will mean their replacement not with wind and solar energy but with nuclear power. Russia and China lead the world by far in nuclear power. The US has not built a nuclear power plant in fifty years.
