#Update 3
Good update on the situation here in #iceland - to add -electricity has gone from #Grindavik as of a few minutes of go.
#Iceland: I've put together some updates with regards to the possible eruption.....
104 earthquakes in the last hour.
Grindavík evacuation completed around 2:30 am
A new risk assessment, expected around noon, is being prepared.
The situation is described as a "hugely powerful scenario" with no indication of it ending soon.
Uncertainty remains regarding when evacuated residents can return home.
Plans are underway to facilitate the return of residents to collect essential belongings left behind.
Emergency responders in Grindavík say that the town has sustained considerable damage from the repeated powerful earthquakes.
Seismic activity indicates a potential eruption, but it's impossible to predict when or where exactly it might happen.
Magma tunnel stretches under Grindavík, with the possibility of eruption in the sea southwest of Grindavík.
Keflavík Airport is operating normally, unaffected by the earthquake-related flight color code.

!!A lot of people living in Iceland on Facebook saying it feels different to anything before!!
Global Warming? Iceland Declares State of Emergency Due to Volcanic Eruption Threat Following 1400 Earthquakes in 24 Hours.
🚨Update: Iceland under civil defense alert!
JUST IN - State of emergency declared in Grindavík, Iceland. Civil defense has decided to evacuate the town.
Department of Civil Protection @almannavarnir has decided to order #evacuation of #Grindavik given uncertainty in where #eruption will occur. All citizens must leave the area immediately. For information about the evacuation plan - please visit grindavik.is/v/26729 #reykjanes
#Update2
For the Reykjanes #volcano…
Best case scenario: no eruption.
Worst case scenario: 1973 Eldfell like repeat.
However, if an eruption does hypothetically occur either a completely effusive (VEI 0) or moderately explosive strombolian eruption (VEI 1-2) is most likely). #iceland

"At this stage, it is not possible to say exactly if and where magma can reach the surface. There are indications that a considerable amount of magma is moving in an area that runs from Sundhnjúka craters in the north towards Grindavík." vedur.is/um-vi/frettir/…
(Just found this intriguing@!!! )
In a move that would shock anyone with a sacred mountain mindset, the government and privatized power companies have been trying to control and harness the seismic activity to supply the aluminum industry. The process, which involves inducing earthquakes, has the unsurprising side-hazard of causing erratic seismic instability.
Worldwide, induced earthquakes associated with geothermal projects have raised public concern on several
occasions even though the seismicity has rarely had adverse physical effects. A recent sequence of induced
seismicity due to fluid injection into the geothermal field at Hellisheidi Power Plant, southwest Iceland,
culminated in two ?!3.8 earthquakes on 15 October 2011. The earthquake ground motions and structural
vibrations were widely felt, especially in the village of Hveragerdi (distance ~12 km), where the new
ICEARRAY strong-motion small-aperture array produced recordings of 85 earthquakes on a total of 11 free-
field three-component instruments. The largest horizontal PSA values in Hveragerði were 22% g and 17% g in
the two largest events, respectively. This earthquake action is equal to, and in some cases higher than, the
codified design demand applied to the majority of the building stock. These results may have important
implications for future operations at the Hellisheidi geothermal plant.
