There is a continuing debate about whether the US and Europe wish to destroy Russia because of Russo-Phobia or whether they wish to destroy Russia to steal its resources and nuclear deterrent; to get rid of a peer competitor in the military domain.

Doug McGreggor et al, has put forward the view more in line with the first possibility that the US has NO strategic interest in Russia, but this simply is not true.
