MILEI APPROVES ALMOST BILLION IN TRANS-SEXUAL HORMONES

Despite the electoral promises to reduce public spending, the government of Javier Milei in Argentina has just published the approval of a purchase of 827 million pesos (almost a billion dollars) in body modification hormones for the gender and diversity program that provides free puberty inhibition and induction drugs to children, adolescents and trans adults.

With Nicolás Posse and Mario Antonio Russo signing today, the government has authorized the purchase of 105,000 containers of hormones requested by the Directorate of Gender and Diversity under Law 26,743.

It is the Public Procurement 80-0025-LPU23, which since June 2023 was suspended and was reactivated from January 2024 onward.

Both medications are used by people who wish to effeminate ("feminize" ) their body; estradiol is a female hormone and spirolactone is a blocker of male hormones.

Milei thus gives continuity to guidelines that had been made by the Alberto Fernández government, that had set out a guide on «Puberty inhibition and induction» that outlined the approach suggested by the Health Ministry in such cases.

This approval is made midst a sharp cut in public spending that has complicated things for the government due to tardiness in the purchase of food for social canteens whilst attempting to raise salaries for top officials of the Milei administration, which caused a scandal and gad to be reversed.

It was only a feeble attempt at teasing the Chega and Liberal party people that celebrated so excited and spectacularly you'd have thought it was their own victory, when Milei won in Argentina. They went all out in celebration as did Bolsonaro who is as we all know, President of Brazil's own Liberal party who also acted as if it was his own victory. )
