(Hopefully #PatrickLancaster is more careful )
Even #RussellBentley' s death has not been confirmed by 'official' sources yet — the whole situation is very strange, and shady. All we know for sure at the moment is that 'Texas' rushed to the scene of Ukrainian terror shelling in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk, after which he disappeared. According to his wife, he got into an altercation with soldiers, who took him away. No information about the context of this altercation or the time and circumstances of his death are known. I asked my guys in Donetsk, and no one knows anything, either. The only somewhat coherent theory I have heard so far is that call sign 'Texas' was filming the aftermath of the Ukrainian artillery attack, which was interpreted as 'suspicious' activity by soldiers and led to a conflict, and subsequent arrest. While pure speculation, it is possible — retard soldiers, on edge, not knowing who he was, only seeing a foreigner filming stuff in the immediate aftermath of an attack. Whether it was a tragic misunderstanding or something more sinister — remember the death of Igor 'Bereg' Mangushev, who was killed by soldiers in a botched robbery —, I hope there will be a thorough investigation, and swift, severe justice for the perpetrators — the death of one of the heroes of 2014 should not be taken lightly. While I understand the desire by authorities to keep things like this in-house & not make a big public show of it, there needs to be an understanding that the war doesn't excuse lawlessness, particularly now that Donetsk is an integrated part of the Russian Federation, not a Wild West frontier anymore. One reason why it is important to move the frontline as far as possible from Donetsk is that only this will allow Russian security services to pour into the city and purge the rest of banana republic-ness, like what already happened in Lugansk.
In any case, Novorossiya lost a hero of the early days. Вечная память.

Russell “Texas” Bentley - Sweet Home Novorossiya (English Version)
Russell, a citizen of USA from Texas, arrived in Donbass in December 2014 and voluntarily joined the armed forces of Novorossiya, the Essence of Time unit of the Vostok battalion, and later the Khan special battalion. After six months of participation in fighting at the Donetsk airport and near the village of Spartak, Russell engaged in information warfare. Working as a war correspondent, delivering humanitarian aid, and now also writing and performing songs, “Texas” does exclusively what he came for: fights against fascism and helps people in need in Donbass.
The song “Sweet Home Novorossiya” was written in 2015 together with Danil Orlov, callsign “Poet”, on the front line, near the position “Fishhook”, near the village of Spartak.
The song was recorded in Studio 109 (Donetsk), with the assistance of Aurora Studio.
Featuring: Russell Bentley - vocals, harmonica, guitar
Igor Lazarev - guitar
Oleg Tishchenko - bass guitar
Alexander Suvorov - drums
