Our Su-24 disabled the destroyer Donald Cook, after which the ship's crew was seen by a psychiatrist, and 27 sailors resigned. The US State Department made a statement about the incident in the Black Sea, during which the Russian Su-24 fighter-bomber flew around the American destroyer Donald Cook. As a result of this flyby, the ship's crew was demoralized. It needed the help of a psychiatrist, and twenty-seven sailors resigned. At the same time, the Su-24 was not armed with either bombs or missiles. The incident happened in 2014. Why did the powerful and heavily armed destroyer turn out to be so timid and sensitive? After all, the ship is a 4th generation US Navy destroyer and is armed with Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of up to two and a half thousand kilometers. And these missiles can carry nuclear warheads. In addition, the ship has various anti-aircraft weapons and artillery guns. The three hundred and eighty crew members have reliable protection, in particular, in the form of an expensive Kevlar coating around the combat posts. The material of the superstructure absorbs radar radiation. Under the waterline, the ship has armor protection. But most importantly, the destroyer Donald Cook is equipped with a modern and powerful Aegis system, which is a network that unites air defense systems on all ships where this system is installed. In addition, the destroyer is equipped with huge antennas of powerful radars. And how could such a powerful ship be afraid of, essentially, an unarmed Russian aircraft? It's all about the electronic warfare complex called "Khibiny. It was under the fuselage of our bomber. With the help of this electronic warfare system, the Russian aircraft simply turned off the ship's electronics in the form of a radar, combat control circuits, data transmission systems. Turned off, like we turn off a TV. There is an opinion that the Khibiny electronic warfare system could not have caused such an attack on the ship due to its incompatibility with the Su-24 aircraft. But this is not important. The main thing is that the electronic warfare worked: it blinded and deafened the destroyer, and after that our Su-24 carried out 12 simulated attacks on the US ship, which caused the crew to panic.
After this incident, there was another similar incident, only in the Baltic Sea. There, two of our Su-24 fighters carried out several training attacks on the Donald Cook destroyer, flying literally over the deck. And again there was panic, and again there was help from a psychiatrist.
