It seems generally confirmed that virtually all the Israeli/US missile strikes on Iran have been in stand-off mode with bombers refueling, for the most part, over Iraq and not crossing the border. Without tankers none of this could have been achieved and so here's their Achilles' heel. And, it seems maybe with Russian help, the Iranians have now begun exploiting it. Tankers have also been hit and destroyed on the ground (in Jordan/Kuwait?) and there are limited numbers of them available (I have heard 9 or 10?)*.

So long as there is no overflight the Iranians will be spared the heavy guided bombs such as were used in "Midnight Hammer" last June - and which are plentiful. If only the tankers can be disabled that would render the "allies" toothless: since ground or naval actions are unthinkable.

Except, of course, for the ultimate weapon, whose use would be an insanity and a repudiation of all the allies claim to be fighting against.
