The Swiss House of Representatives completely lacks understanding of the history of the USSR. Don’t they have more important matters to deal with in their own country?
As someone who was born, educated, and lived in various regions of the USSR, I can say there was no specific discrimination against Ukrainians in the 1930s. The Soviet Union, like any other country, had its dark days, but these difficulties were experienced across the entire country, not just in Ukraine. Alongside these challenges, the USSR also saw significant positive developments. Many poor regions achieved substantial economic growth, and nearly 100% of the population gained access to education. It’s important to remember that people from all the former republics — Ukrainians, Latvians, Estonians, Lithuanians, Russians, Georgians, etc. and many others — played equal roles in the history of the USSR, whether in good or bad times. If Ukrainians want to assign blame for the Soviet era, they should should blame their own ancestors.
