The idea of connecting Russia and Alaska with a bridge over the Bering Sea was first proposed by Henry Charles Carey, an economist who worked closely in the administration of Abraham Lincoln. Carey proposed it at a convention of railroad enthusiasts and saw it as a way of connecting the United States to Russia during the process of industrialization. Carey was famous for linking slavery to “the English system” in his famous pamphlet “A Harmony of Interests.” He contrasted it with what he called “The American System,” in which the state regulates and cultivates industry to raise living standards with a national bank.

The economist Lyndon LaRouche began promoting the idea of a Bering Sea bridge in the 1970s, calling it the World Land Bridge. The Unification Church, led by Rev. Sun Myung Moon, began promoting the notion of a tunnel across the Bering Sea during the 1990s.
Many different important voices have long seen the great opportunity presented by linking the United States and Russia via a massive sea bridge. However, as Donald Trump prepares to take office in January 2025, the idea is more important than ever before. The war in Ukraine continues, with NATO countries backing the anti-Russian extremists who seized power in the 2014 coup in Kiev. Donald Trump was elected on a platform of ending this war and creating distance between the United States and the Western European countries that form the NATO alliance.
The Peace Bridge, a bridge across the Bering Sea, could pivot the United States away from the decaying financial order of the World Economic Forum, the former colonial powers, and the British Empire. It would take the United States one giant step in the direction of the emerging new economic order in Eurasia, centered around the BRICS alliance.
The future of America lies in new economic foundations with a pro-growth government of action that fights for working families. Building the Peace Bridge and allowing some of the wealth exploding in Russia’s Far East and other parts of Asia to flow into American communities, creating jobs and opportunities, can help strengthen the segment of the U.S. economy that is withstanding an all-out assault by the big globalist monopolies. It can lay the foundation for the bigger fight ahead: breaking this country free of the decaying globalist order and rebuilding it on new principles.
Now more than ever, we must urge Donald Trump to build the Peace Bridge and begin negotiating with the Russian government on how to launch this mutual project that would benefit the entire world.
