The charade of 'negotiations' which has taken place in Berlin is now over and all the indications are that the war in Ukraine will not only continue but will only end when the Russians have won a military victory. Indeed Putin has all but said as much today. That victory draws ever closer, with claimed Ukrainian 'victories' in Kupiansk and Novorossiysk exposed as media fabrications.

Meanwhile I notice that the US, having accepted wholesale Zelensky's and the UK/EU's 'revisions' to its 'peace proposals', is once again discussing further sanctions. The Europeans for their part are pressing forward with their plan to misappropriate the Russian assets and have also begun punishing dissidents, starting with Xavier Moreau and Jacques Baud.

In some respects this is all clarifying and I suspect that there are quite a few people in Russia who will be privately relieved by it.
