Ex-Labour MP Ivor Caplin accused of 'engaging in sexual communication with a child' is released on bail

A former Labour minister arrested on suspicion of 'engaging in sexual communication with a child' has been released from police custody.

Ivor Caplin, 66, the former MP for Hove, was released on bail after spending the night in a police cell, with officers launching an investigation into the alleged incident.

He was stopped by a group of activists on Saturday who claimed they had arranged to meet him posing as an 'underage boy'.

The group's leader, Dean Rowland, alleged the former minister was at Hove station in order to meet with the 15-year-old child.

Mr Caplin denied the claims multiple times on video before the group called the police.

Mr Rowland claims his group handed their 'evidence' over to officers who arrested the former MP.

Footage of the alleged sting was shared in a live feed on Facebook and has been watched by thousands.
