Today, after all the talk of war over the last 2 weeks, we return to negotiations, with the Russian Ukrainian Working Party meeting again in the UAE, and the US and Iran supposedly preparing to begin talks in Turkey.

The Russian Ukrainian talks seem to me stuck with the two sides discussing - according to Umerov - what look to me like procedural issues. The US Iranian talks by contrast may result in something with the Russians and the Arab states putting ideas on the table. It would be a mistake however in either case to be especially optimistic about any positive outcome. The only reason to be cheerful is that Lindsay Graham seems to be working himself up into a rage over both wars.

Meanwhile the Epstein scandal - which in the UK is now becoming the Peter Mandelson scandal - continues to rage. Some of the commentaries about it which are being published in the UK are actually quite interesting.

He also talks of the suicidal economic policies of the Europeans, cutting themselves off from so many things essential to their economic survival that they were getting from Russia. Europe seems to be insisting on war instead of sane economic relations, and Russia is ready for it.
