Larry Johnson:
Europe... does not study why it needs to continue to be under military occupation by the US after the Soviet Union has been gone for so many years.
The US charges a high price for the LPG delivered by ship and forces the Europeans to purchase US-made weapons, also at a high price—weapons that appear to be grossly inferior to those of the Russians. Suppose the 'threat' materialized and Europe swapped American occupation for Russian occupation.
What would change? Well—Europe would get cheap gas and Germany could restart its factories, there would be plenty of useful metals and minerals, an opportunity to get cheaper and better weapons (not that they would need them, thus saving 800 billion Euros), more exports to Russia, and shorter commercial aircraft routes to Asia. Russia could finally join NATO and a Russian general could become the Supreme Allied Commander.
The Europeans could also finally get their wish for Ukraine to join NATO. There would be some downsides, such as eliminating wokism, fixing the 'democracy deficit' and encouraging church-going. But then, Vice President Vance has already given a sermon on those subjects.
Probably the major downside would be that practically all the top politicians in Europe would lose their jobs.
