The big news is the collapse of the negotiations in London, which the Trump administration expected would lead to the adoption of the Kellogg Plan. As I have discussed in many places, the Russians oppose the Kellogg Plan, but in the event - at least at the meeting in London - it was Zelensky who wrecked it.

Given that the Ukrainians have rejected the Kellogg Plan, one wonders what the point of Witkoff's forthcoming trip to Moscow is?

It seems to me that Trump now has an important decision to make. Given that the Ukrainians have rejected the Kellogg Plan, with no prospect that they will ever come round, the most sensible thing for Trump to do is to do what he should have done in the first place, which is pull the US out of the negotiations and the war itself. However we can be sure that there will be lots of people in Europe and the US who will try to persuade him to do otherwise.
