We are now on the brink of Russia's Victory Day celebrations (the West celebrates Victory the day before) and general violence is intensifying.
We are now on the brink of a war between two nuclear powers - India and Pakistan - Ukraine is pulling out all the stops to launch massive drone attacks across Russia, and they are trying to break into Kursk region again, and it looks as if the Iran negotiations are at deadlock and we are again drifting into a US/Israel war against Iran.
As for the Trump administration, I get the sense that all the initial momentum of the first weeks has drained away. We now hear practically nothing about DOGE, the minerals deal is a typical US bureaucratic document, the US looks like it is going to water down its tariffs against China, and all diplomatic initiatives over Ukraine, Gaza, Iran etc are in deadlock and look like they are being quietly abandoned.
It all reminds me of a saying of the former Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomydin: "We wanted the best, but it turned out as always".
