I am back from an absolutely wonderful trip to St. Petersburg (my first to St. Petersburg since 2016, my first in Russia since 2018) and I have much to say about it.

Ed Lucas in the London Times this morning posed what he clearly took to be a terrifying question, namely: "Will we really risk war with Russia for some symbolic scrap of territory in eastern Europe?".

By "some symbolic scrap" he appears to mean the small eastern portion of Lithuania that is populated mainly by Russian speakers who face discriminatory treatment by their government.

Lucas appears to be terrified that the answer to his question might turn out to be "no". Funny how the priorities of our ruling class are so different from most of the population...
