Yet another chapter to the comedy ballet, the psychodrama of Brussels; I just found out that yesterday a report on the meeting between the (idiotic) EU and the African Union, on foreign affairs & trade is making its rounds with some friends where I live. The ludicrous clownworld incident [calling on our Alex and Alexander @theduran @alexmercouris @TheDuran_Social ] is with regard to the following. Upon receiving the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs โ when he politely asked if he should begin in his country's language (Portuguese) โ to my utter disbelief he received indication that it would be impossible, and to please give his address in French or English..
He has excellent skills in at least two languages other than his own Portuguese, but that's beside the point.
I will seek the video, as it seems it is "Stunning & Brave" next to him at the other podium. (I'll leave 3 screenshots).
I am a mix of feelings between outright scornful, as well as amused, laughter, outrage, and a will to cry.
On the other (vastly more dignified) hand, Brazil is meeting him today.
In the comments, I shall place the post of our veteran (excellent and as always, uncompromised) retired newsman, Carlos Fino. I had seen it when I did my once a week FB check, this morning. The post has the video (if I recall it's a TikTok posted on Instagram), and of course a preamble by a man who provides ample details on the meeting. i just need a few moments to compose myself. It is funny though, to see the EU suicide itself multilingualy.

Post script - in my early adulthood, I earned quite a living as a simultaneous interpreter and as a consecutive interpreter, in courts, various other kinds of institutions, for lawyers, and Unions. Due to a loss in my most immediate family, I travelled and thenceforth have had a life mostly dedicated to music. But I'm still coaxed into doing some work on occasion. I know there are, there must be, so many that can do such work. This is so ridiculous I could puke.
