Nicholas Kaufman—a British-Israeli lawyer with ties to Netanyahu’s inner circle—told Khan that if he didn’t withdraw arrest warrants for Israeli war criminals or halt efforts to indict more (like Ben Gvir and Smotrich), then:

“They will destroy you and they will destroy the court.”

Kaufman claimed he was “authorized” to offer Khan a secret backchannel: reclassify the charges, go quiet, let Israel privately challenge the evidence, and climb down the tree.
