🇺🇸🇺🇦🇪🇺"Trump's peace plan harms Ukraine, Europe, and the USA," — The Economist frightens the West
▪️The 28-point document is a mix of opportunism and strategic error. Its raw wording under normal circumstances would not allow discussion, but in "unusual times" Trump may push it through by Thanksgiving.
▪️Russia will keep the territories it has taken, return to world politics, and shed sanctions. Ukraine will only be offered a ceasefire and a US promise that Moscow "will not attack again."
▪️Kiev will have to give up key cities, limit its army to 600,000 troops, and ban NATO on its territory, while Russia will gain the right to strike without restrictions.
▪️The plan effectively rewards Putin, gives him time to rebuild forces, and risks provoking a new invasion, The Economist warns. Europe was excluded from the negotiations — a signal that the Trump administration will act without allies.
▪️This threatens not only Ukraine: Tokyo, Seoul, and Beijing are closely watching how Washington treats its partners, drawing conclusions about the reliability of the USA.
For one the idea of Ukraine being afford able to afford 600,000 person military is quite remote. Let's compare:
Turkey 355,000
Poland 216,000
France 204,000
Germany 185,000
Italy 171,000
UK 138,000
