When I saw the image and read the article below, I started thinking. The thoughts were not happy ones. It has been proposed that Israel will use nuclear weapons against Iran in the event of a war, in which in all probability Israel would lose. There is a possible deterrent that Iran has against Israeli nukes, and that is an attack on Israels nuclear "research" reactors. Such an attack may result in massive contamination of Israel which is a very small country. I do not know for sure, but I think that the quantities involved in these small reactors may not be significant, and they are probably protected against conventional weapons, but who knows.
However, there is another protagonist that has used nuclear weapons before and who has reneged on all arms reduction treaties. We all know them, this is, the United States of America. To subdue Iran from the air alone without a million boots on the ground is a difficult if not impossible task. Iran will fight back. It will close the Straights of Hormuz, will attack US Middle Eastern and possibly other US bases (Camp Bondsteel is well within range) and will attack US naval task forces and may take out a carrier or two.
Given the difficulty for the US in getting land and air forces of sufficient size into or over Iran, the US may resort to tactical nuclear weapons against Iran's strategic military assets and civilian infrastructure. I can hear the cries of outrage now about such a proposal and the question of how would they get away with it. But who will stop them? Will Russia and China go to nuclear war to save Iran? I think not. Given the US ability to cover up its crimes to keep them secret from its great unwashed who would know they had used them apart from their victims and those in the neighbourhood. Russia would know, China would know, but anything they say is just propaganda.
Tactical nukes have huge advantages over conventional weapons. The radiation can kill thousands over a wide radius, even those protected by military armour, and they can be used to penetrate and destroy underground facilities far more effectively than the MOAB. For decapitation, they are just the ticket. And you can deploy them from missiles, unlike the MOAB which requires vulnerable aircraft. What's not to like?
The US hasn't used tactical nukes in Ukraine because Russia has them and has escalation dominance, but Iran doesn't have them and hence has no escalatory dominance against them. If Russia hadn't had nukes, would the US have used them against Russia when its Ukraine Project started to fail? Of course, it would. It used them on Japan even thought it knew in all probability Japan was finished. The US is run by a ruthless upper class, steeped in the traditions and culture of savage and uncompromising British colonialism and white racist supremacy. They cannot tolerate losing to black, brown or off-white people and people of Slavic origins. And they hate Muslims with a passion. Such people do whatever it takes to win. Tactical nukes could easily be one of them.
