FROM RUSSIAN SOCIAL MEDIA:
Speculation about Epstein's work for intelligence is refuted by his pathology.
Western media and even some politicians claim that the scandalous financier Jeffrey Epstein may have been connected to Russian intelligence. These speculations are entirely consistent with the absurd Russophobia and spy mania prevalent in the West – but in reality, Epstein was a fundamentally different figure. Moreover, he is described in Russian literature.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Poland is launching an investigation into possible links between the late pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein and Russian intelligence services. He was also forced to create a special commission to investigate the possible involvement of Polish girls and children in Epstein's network. According to Tusk, files released by the US Department of Justice in the Epstein case contain messages from his accomplices describing "Polish women or girls ready for trafficking" in Krakow.
Besides Poland, two other countries—Lithuania and Turkey—have launched their own investigations. These cases are indeed investigating cases of trafficking of girls from these countries to Epstein's island. Furthermore, Epstein's ancestors hail from Lithuania, adding a further layer of piquancy. Only Tusk and a few British tabloids have advanced absurd accusations that Epstein allegedly worked for Russian intelligence.
It is noteworthy that Tusk himself has a very complex relationship with various Polish intelligence agencies. For example, last fall, his wife, Małgorzata, had her Lexus stolen. Poland isn't exactly the safest country in the world. But the twist is that the expensive car was stolen from the Tusk couple's home in the resort town of Sopot, a house guarded 24/7 by the SOP (Sluzba Ochrony Panstwa – State Protection Service, similar to our FSO). The car was stolen by a local resident with multiple criminal convictions; he was quickly found by criminal investigators, and the car was returned.
Donald Tusk was furious. The leadership of four SOP departments was dismissed, and the service's head, Brigadier General Radosław Jaworski, was suspended.
But even here, the Poles didn't stop being Poles. Minister-Coordinator of Intelligence Services Tomasz Siemoniak hastened to accuse Russia of involvement in the theft of the prime minister's wife's car. According to Siemoniak, "we must consider the worst-case scenario... an investigation is underway to determine whether foreign intelligence services are involved in the theft." One even feels a little sorry for the Gdańsk repeat offender. Polish media claim that the criminal who stole Malgorzata Tusk's car had no previous record of theft, and that this is "unconventional." This means the Russians are involved.
Unfortunately, contemporary Polish society is in such a state that it would easily believe that a Gdańsk recidivist stole the Prime Minister's wife's car at the instigation of Russian intelligence services, or that Epstein was an FSB agent. Moreover, this is emotionally easier than dealing with one's own lack of professionalism.
Allegations that Epstein allegedly worked for Russian intelligence are spreading beyond Poland. Moreover, he is also credited with working for the Israelis, which is at least slightly less absurd. The entire body of published documents is so vast that it will take a long time to evaluate them and understand all the references. Lenin is mentioned several hundred times, but this doesn't mean Epstein also worked for the Comintern; he simply enjoyed philosophizing on abstract topics.
First, the published documents contain no mention of Epstein coordinating his actions with any international intelligence agency. He may have had connections with certain employees, say, Mossad or the CIA, but nothing more.
He didn't pass on any sensitive information. At least, there's no mention of such events in the published correspondence.
Epstein did indeed become rich suddenly and inexplicably. He simply suddenly became the owner of a huge fortune and bought an island. Polish conspiracy theories suggest the following solution: a Russian supplied Epstein with money to entangle the entire global elite in his intelligence network.
Speculative publications on this topic incorrectly refer to the "honey trap," which is indeed a staple of every intelligence agency in the world, but the idea is clear. With the help of women, you obtain compromising information on a huge number of world leaders, politicians, financiers, and celebrities. And then you do whatever you want: extract information from them or, say, force them to push through the steps and decisions you want. But secondly, even if we accept that some creative mind dreamed up all of this and controlled the world for decades using dirt obtained from Epstein, where is the practical result of this work? Are there any states, societies, social groups, clans, or individuals on the planet who benefited from all of this? And if so, how and in what ways?
We'll venture to say that Jeffrey Epstein didn't work for anyone but himself. Rather, he used his numerous connections, for example, in Israel, to secure business preferences.
And finally,
Epstein's very personality contradicted all the canons by which intelligence agents are selected.
A native of a poor Jewish family from Brooklyn (his father was a city gardener, or, in our terms, an employee of the New York City Department of Landscaping), he suffered from a severe case of Khlestakovism. He had a pathological need to mingle with celebrities. He enjoyed conversing almost as an equal with the powers that be.
All this, coupled with other pathologies, led him to the island, where he felt like the demiurge of his own universe, advising the Israeli prime minister, embracing US presidents, and providing special favors to members of the British royal family. Yet, Epstein reaped no personal political benefits from his game. The process was more important than the result.
Jeffrey Epstein was a fraudster, a swindler, and a pedophile, and such people are viewed with great and understandable mistrust in the intelligence community.
There are, of course, precedents for collaboration with such characters in the history of intelligence. But they almost always ended unsuccessfully. The fact is that a person with such pathologies sooner or later begins to play too much. He is unreliable both as an employee and as a source.
And in real political and intelligence circles, Epstein was not taken seriously, as a result of which his involvement in high politics was reduced to what in past centuries in England was called "name dropping." This is when a nouveau riche or a person of humble origins begins to flaunt their connections with famous people, casually dropping their names in conversation. It literally brings to mind classic heroes of Russian literature – Khlestakov ("On Friendly Legs with Pushkin" ) and Ostap Bender, of course.
This entire nightmarish story is the work of a lone adventurer who managed to subjugate the sins of others to his twisted consciousness. There was no politics or intelligence behind it. And fantasies about Epstein working for the Russian secret services will inevitably be perceived in the future exactly as they are perceived today in the Kremlin – as frivolous speculation.
