Watched an episode of "War Sailor" on Netflix last night. Set in the 1940's, there was a scene where a boat was torpedoed, and three men got to a piece of decking that made a raft, when they noticed a 15 year old boy screaming in the water.
They pulled him out, and he was in a lot of pain, but said "I'm Okay Now" several times. His left leg had been chopped off above the knee, and he was losing a lot of blood. The submarine that torpedoed them surfaced, and gave them a tank of water, and a doctor came down to look at the boy. He shook his head and gave them morphine, and the boy reacted immediately "Why did he shake his head? I am okay now!"
The captain of the submarine called to the doctor and asked him how much morphine the boy needed, the doctor said 6. The captain said "Give it to them", and he gave the morphine to one of the men on the raft, and added. I am sorry, I can not take you on board. The submarine then left.
The boy was screaming in pain, and one man holding him from behind, one administered a dose of Morphine, then another, then another. The boy then panicked and said "NO! You are killing me, don't kill me, I don't want to die". The one man was very distressed and did not want to give the morphine, but the other two shouted at him to give the morphine. They administered the last as the boy got weaker and weaker, crying 'NO!....No!.....noooo! I am dying!"
This is war. This is why we should do everything we can to avoid war. This is what is happening in Ukraine. This is what is happening in the middle east. Some things are worth fighting for, but only if it is more important than the suffering and death of children. Objectively, it is only the suffering and death of children that is worth fighting, dying and killing for, and anything else, we MUST look for a solution, we MUST consider the other side's point of view, we MUST consider their security concerns. We are supposed to be a democracy, well let the people speak. Am I right? If so then lets have real diplomats communicate with each other and end these wars.
