I see a very interesting phenomenon online of trying to sow discord between Russia and India. It is very organized, deliberate and managed. Any developments between the two countries are either deliberately not reported or reported as one of them blackmailing, exploiting or leveraging the other. Nothing organic or positive is permitted.
I can't place my finger on who is financing it and what their motives are.
Obviously the west benefits from this. Scores of examples I can give you about the west trying to bully India out of a relationship with Russia.
The narrative of India being a "weak link" in the BRICS is spread by weak-brains who do not understand that India is not as rich as China and therefore has no choice but to engage in their policy of "multi alignment". They can't throw a hissy fit and score virtue points with any side since they have a large population to lift into medium income wellbeing.
Then I see some Russia analysts on X (almost all of whom are not in Russia), including "Dances with Bears", leaning into this aggressively. India is shown as a slippery dealer that is waiting for an opportunity to break all past relationship with Russia. So it is not just the west.
Is it China who benefits from Russia being unable to use its friendship with India as a method to limit any sense of dependency on China alone, especially as India becomes an even larger economy over the next two decades? Maybe, but I think this would be a waste of time. China is prudent enough to know that it too needs access to India's huge consumer market. And these are all three mature countries that play the long game.
Could it be Pakistan, who is obviously unhappy with any form of strategic military partnership between the two countries accelerating (beyond what it had already existed for over 60 years)?
Frankly, I don't know. All I know is that India and Russia have a tougher road ahead to make sure these saboteurs don't gain any traction.
