F35s:
Second jet downed in less than 24 hours
On Thursday, the IRGC's Public Relations Office announced that Iran's integrated air defense network hit and downed another enemy fighter jet over southern Qeshm Island. The IRGC said that the fighter crashed between Hengam and Qeshm islands, sinking into the water of the Gulf.
Additionally, Iranian air defenses downed two medium-altitude high-endurance unmanned aerial vehicles (MALE UAVs), including a US-manufactured MQ-9 Reaper. Evidence also shows that the 9-Dey surface-to-air missile scored a hit against one of the drones.
Throughout the war on Iran, Iranian air defenses have engaged and scored hits against a number of fighter jets and aircraft, including F-16, F-15, F/A-18, and F-35 fighter jets. The war also saw strikes against US aircraft parked on the tarmac of regional airbases.
In Prince Sultan Airbase in Saudi Arabia, an E-3 Sentry (AWACS) suffered a precision strike and was completely destroyed, reportedly via an Iranian one-way attack drone. Additionally, according to US claims, two KC-135 Stratotankers hit each other mid-flight over Iraq, where one survived the collission but was damaged, while the other crashed. Six US Air Force troops were killed in the incident.
According to US media reports, a Kuwaiti F/A-18 fighter jet accidentally shot down three American F-15s over Kuwait. The incident occurred as pilots were scrambled to intercept incoming drones and cruise missiles.
