Starmer appoints Paedophile Information Exchange-linked Harman as women/girls adviser
Keir Starmer’s addiction to appointing people linked to paedophilia is insatiable. This morning, he has brought Harriet Harman back into government as his ‘adviser on women and girls’. That would be the Harriet Harman who was legal officer for the National Council for Civil Liberties (NCCL), which was affiliated to the Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE). Her late husband Jack Dromey, like his wife later a Blair front-bencher, was on NCCL’s executive. He was then also on Starmer’s front bench until his death in 2021.
Right. While Harman was a legal officer for PIE in 1978, she wrote a paper — later exposed — arguing against the Protection of Children Bill, a tighter law on ‘child pornography’ — child rape and sexual exploitation images and films.
The document did say that children should not be put into sexual situations. However, it also argued that the idea that children would be harmed by such exploitation was “speculative…where participation falls short of physical assault”. It said that tighter laws would lead to:
damaging and absurd prosecutions [and] increase censorship.
Harman wrote that pornographic photographs or films of children were only indecent if it could be demonstrated that the child had suffered. She also wanted prosecutors to have to prove this harm rather than defendants showing there was none.
Starmer’s first act of his reshuffle, after months of scandals over his knowing appointment of paedophiles’ pals to senior positions, is to appoint a woman linked to a notorious paedophilia advocacy group.
