The below post is rather long, but if there is anyone in Australia (or the U.K) who want to form a chat group, reply, and I will see what I can set up. I am going to be away until late July, so may be a little unresponsive, but Will look at the post when I get back.
I do not know anyone in the U.K who are willing to believe that Russia was provoked into the Ukraine crisis. The same is true in Australia. If I make a statement such as "The west could end the war if they conceded that Ukraine not join NATO. Such diplomacy may allow Ukraine to join the European Union as Vladimir Putin has not ruled that out yet, and even said that he would support their application back in 2022"
The statement is completely ignored. Not even read. No one wants to talk about it. There is still some vehement hatred against Trump, but accountability for the continuation of the Ukraine war is never discussed, as if this is not the reason they hate Trump. They deflect onto Epstien crimes, which I agree are horrible serious crimes, but the more dangerous crime that is still being committed in my view is the murder and destruction by proxy of people in the provoked conflict in Ukraine. Trump lied when he would stop the war in Ukraine, and when I say that Trump should be impeached because of that, the response is that he should be locked up for sex offenses. I agree, but it is obvious that this crime that trumps (excuse the pun) all others is only mentioned because the reason they hated Trump in the first place was because they were afraid he would actually stop the war in Ukraine.
This mentality shows a complete lack of thinking. I experienced the same kind of stupidity when I challenged the view that the nuclear bombing of Japan at the end of the second world war was an evil thing to do. My argument was that Japan had already been firebombed to impotence by the U.S, was 11,000 kms from the U.S mainland, and posed no security threat to the U.S. The fear that Japan may surrender to the Russians (which they don't actually raise, but I can see may be a security concern) could have been negotiated if they allowed Japan to retain its sovereignty. From what I heard, the only reason the North did not win and Korea got split in half was because America threatened to use the atomic bomb on China.
The general and unbelievable attitude is that the Japanese were throwing their kids off cliffs and the argument I am met with here is the question "Don't you think Japan needed to be punished for starting the war?". What kind of obnoxious thinking is that? What kind of lesson can dead people learn? Not all the people on the thread I was on would admit to this, but no one disagreed with the statement made, which leads me to believe that the majority of people think this way. Before the second world war, people in Germany and the U.K were starving because of the poverty, this after giving their lives and health to fight for their country, I can understand anger and hatred under those circumstances. What reason do these people have now?
I think the world needs a system of education which includes ethics and values. I think the whole world needs to form an alliance about education involving a fundamental teaching of ethics, charity, empathy and compassion.
