The US Treasury is now pulling back authorization for Iranian oil operations from July 7, banning new transactions and giving existing deals only until July 17 to wind down.
This comes after the US desperately pushed for a deal and agreed to the June 22 memorandum, promising sanctions relief.
đź—“ Just two weeks ago, the US issued General License X, authorizing the production, delivery and sale of Iranian crude oil, petrochemical products and petroleum products through August 21, 2026.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent already admitted the US was never going to honor the “deal”:

1. Beg Iran for a “deal”
2. Offer temporary oil sanctions relief
3. Keep provoking Iran
4. Revoke the sanctions relief
5. Pretend you are the honorable one
