FROM RUSSIAN SOCIAL MEDIA:
(Not my words)
ETERNAL MEMORY OF A HERO: A Buryatia volunteer was farewelled in St. Petersburg.
Denis Rubanenko was born on May 23, 1992, in Severobaikalsk, Republic of Buryatia. After high school, he attended vocational school. In 2011, he was drafted into the army. He served, returned home, and worked in his field for 12 years.
Watching his comrades leave for the front, Denis made the only right decision. On July 26, 2024, he signed a contract and volunteered for the thick of the fighting.
Two years on the front lines, with "no step back." His comrades remembered Denis as a man of his word: he never hid behind others, always going first and covering for his own. His unquestioning completion of the most difficult tasks and ruthlessness toward the enemy made him a pillar of his unit.
On June 20, 2026, Denis Rubanenko died while on a combat mission. He was only 34.
We said our last respects to the soldier at the Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg. We stood in silence, looked at his portrait, and couldn't believe that this young man was gone.
Class – Eternal memory to the Hero! Condolences to his family.
