I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am looking for an Australian ABC documentary that I recorded on VHS back in 2001 to 2003 I think. It was by a British reporter, and he was talking about Afganistan, Iraq and the war against terror, and about the assassination of Ahmad Shah Massoud of the mujahideen. I saw him again on a news interview, and he said quite loudly and clearly "This war is about OIL!" when no one else would even squeek.
I recently read "The Kite Runner" a story about a child who lived in Afghanistan thru the 1970s and escaped to America, and it was a very good book. I would like to learn more about what went on at the time, with Russia getting involved, America getting involved, which was unpopular in Russia I remember from another documentary, and America also held protests until they realized Afghanistan did not have any oil.
Anyway, if anyone can recount the name of the British Journalist who was vociferous in a recognizable way at that time (and there were very few), it would be wonderful to look up his work.
