Flight disruptions at Jakarta airports
Soekarno Hatta Airport and Halim Airport in Jakarta were temporarily closed due to the volcanic ash clouds from Mount Anak Krakatau on 5 September. Both airports have reopened, but there are continued flight disruptions and many flights are cancelled or delayed.

If you are due to travel, check with your airline or travel provider for up to date information on your flight status.

Volcanic ash from Anak Krakatau (GAK) has been reported to have reached Jakarta and several areas in Jabodetabek. Even flights at Soekarno-Hatta Airport (CGK) have been canceled.

This is the first time I've seen eruption smoke that's brownish in color—what, is this child of Krakatau different from the other volcanoes?

Krakatau was once the world's nightmare. When Krakatau erupted in 1883, nearly the entire world felt its impact. The world was dark for days. Countries in the Northern Hemisphere lost their winter. That's why this eruption of Anak Krakatau or Krakatoa is sure to capture the world's attention.

A video circulating on TikTok from Gr Garage reportedly shows a live view near Mount Anak Krakatau at around 00:20 WIB, Sept. 5, 2026.

VAAC Darwin detected volcanic ash reaching FL500 (~15 km), moving west at around 40 knots.

Anak Krakatau Erupts Again Where the Legendary Krakatoa Destroyed Itself
Mexico Times⁸

Indonesia’s Anak Krakatau erupted again tonight, renewing activity at one of the world’s most closely watched—and historically haunting—volcanic sites.
The volcano rises from the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra, almost exactly where the legendary Krakatau, widely known internationally as Krakatoa, largely destroyed itself during the catastrophic eruption of 1883.
Tonight’s activity comes after weeks of repeated eruptions and elevated unrest at Anak Krakatau. Indonesian monitoring authorities have maintained restrictions around its active crater, warning tourists, fishermen and other visitors not to enter the designated danger zone.
Precise details about tonight’s explosions—including the number of eruptions, the height of the ash columns and their duration—remain subject to confirmation by Indonesia’s Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation, or PVMBG. Images circulating online should be treated cautiously: Indonesian authorities have repeatedly warned that old or misidentified Krakatau videos are often presented as new eruptions.
A volcano born from another volcano’s destruction
Anak Krakatau is not merely located close to old Krakatoa. It emerged inside the enormous underwater caldera created when the earlier volcanic island collapsed in 1883.
That eruption ranks among the most powerful and lethal natural disasters in recorded history. Explosions destroyed most of the island, while enormous tsunamis struck the coastlines of Java and Sumatra. More than 36,000 people were killed, most by the sea rather than the eruption itself.
The explosions were heard thousands of kilometers away, atmospheric pressure waves traveled around the planet, and volcanic material affected skies and temperatures far beyond Indonesia.
After several decades of apparent silence, eruptions began breaking through the sea within the old caldera in late 1927. By 1928, a new island had emerged. Indonesians named it Anak Krakatau—“Child of Krakatau.”
The name is extraordinarily literal: the younger volcano was constructed by fresh eruptions from the same volcanic system, inside the scar left by its predecessor.
A growing—and sometimes collapsing—volcanic island
Anak Krakatau has experienced frequent eruptions since its emergence, gradually building itself with accumulated lava, ash and other volcanic material.
But its growth has not been continuous or stable. On December 22, 2018, part of the volcano’s flank collapsed into the Sunda Strait during an eruptive episode. The collapse generated a tsunami that struck nearby coastlines without the strong earthquake that would normally provide a natural warning.
More than 400 people were killed, thousands were injured and tens of thousands were displaced. The disaster demonstrated that Anak Krakatau’s danger does not depend exclusively on the size of an explosion. A structural collapse of the island can displace enough seawater to threaten coastal communities.
That history gives every new eruptive sequence particular significance. It does not mean that tonight’s activity will produce another major disaster, and ordinary explosive eruptions are part of Anak Krakatau’s established behavior. But the volcano’s unstable structure and its location in a narrow, heavily traveled strait justify continuous monitoring.
No repetition of 1883 should be assumed
The name Krakatoa inevitably evokes the apocalyptic events of 1883, but a new Anak Krakatau eruption should not automatically be interpreted as the beginning of a comparable catastrophe.
Volcanologists assess changes in seismic activity, gas emissions, ground deformation, thermal signals and eruption patterns before determining whether the volcanic system is moving toward a more dangerous phase.
For coastal residents, the immediate priority is therefore not panic but verified information. Official exclusion zones must be respected, and fishermen and tourist vessels should remain well outside the restricted area. Communities facing the Sunda Strait should also remain familiar with tsunami evacuation routes, particularly because the 2018 tsunami demonstrated that a volcanic collapse can generate destructive waves without a preceding tectonic earthquake.
Tonight, fire and ash are again rising from the birthplace of one of history’s most feared volcanoes. It is not the original Krakatau returning intact. It is something more remarkable: its geological descendant, steadily rebuilding an island inside the immense crater left when the old volcano tore itself apart.

Enjoying the this hypocrisy

Apart from the fact that Carlson & this snotty warpig fundamentally are wrong about who ‘owned’ the nuclear weapons of the USSR after 1991 (and it was NEVER Ukraine!), I do enjoy the display of a so called educated idiot proving to the world that he actually has no clue about what he thinks he knows.
This is why these types should never be allowed to hold any type of power.
Maybe also a mention about justification of nukes on Japan - USA was indeed attacked by Japan but and let us not forget this fact: they attacked Pearl Harbour, a military installation! Never the City of Honolulu or elsewhere.
What the Americans did was pretty much a war crime committed twice and has NO justification. History has proven that Japan was going to surrender anyway and the bombs were unnecessary.

A quick commentary on the "Piss Summit"
I might not be able to upload much more or do lives for a while

My Fellow Duranianss.

Yes, it's happened again. I have been assaulted by a vicious Malware Bot Virus or whatever 911 Socks is and this thing is bad !

However I wanted to give you a "peace" of my mind concerning the "Piece" or piss, as Elensky calls it, as this thing fell to pieces before it even happened.

Coincidentally on the very SAME DAY  this crap happened Saudi Arabia DROPPED the US Petrodollar as a buying currency and NO ONE absolutely NO ONE is talking about this fact anywhere !!!

Hope to see you all asap.
