I prob experienced withdrawal symptoms, when last week, Alastair C did not appear to give his weekly analysis. He made up for it today - in fact, gave a master class, however brief, on the situation with Yemen. For years, my Arab friends have been drilling into me the knowledge about Yemen representing "the real Arabia," and not those devoid-of-any-culture elements from the province of Najd (the seat of Wahhabism).
(On the other side, by the Red Sea, there is a province of Hijaz - where Mecca is - and in the past, before the skullduggerist Brits exercised their devious plans - Yemen, provinces of Asir and Hijaz, and all the way up to Syria, had strong economic ties (almost constituting an economic unit)).
It appears that the process to undo Brits' intrigues (starting during WWI and continuing well into the 1930s) is well under way.
History can be irony; it can laught at us, mere humans.
The Brit elite planned WWI to preserve the empire and deploy its hegemony over the world. Well, they overstepped, and by 1956, the empire was kaput, drowning in the rivers of blood and misery it unleashed.
In a similar way, its continuation, the anglo-zionist-american empire overstepped with misguided treaties and wars, unleashing resistance (and subsequent re-ordering of the region) that may be impossible to contain.
History teaches us, however, that this will be a long process - so strap in, this will be a bumpy century.
