The news which is making the headlines is of course the results of the midterms in the United States. I would point out that these were very accurately predicted by Robert Barnes and Rich Baris in a programme we did with them on The Duran which you can see here (

How much actual difference this is all going to make in terms of US foreign policy is another matter. Trump of course is still there, but putting that aside, it looks to me as if all that has happened is that one neocon pro-war party in Congress has replaced another.

As to US domestic policy, here we probably will see significant changes. Trump's economic policy based on tariffs is now almost certainly dead (or so it seems to me) and there may be significant battles over immigration and data centres. My guess is that it won't take very long before Americans sour on the Democrats again. But ultimately all this is a purely internal issue.

I used to like Paul Joseph Watson but I think because of the political situation in the UK he's become more cynical and jaded. This critique of the John Lewis Christmas advertisement is borderline racist.

I'm speaking as a grandma and a person with a multi-ethnic family. Seriously when we get together we look like a meeting at the UN. There's Italians (from Italy) Mexicans, Germans, American born white people, African from Trinidad, Israelis (my cousin married an Israeli 🤪)
And my nephew married a wonderful young woman whose father comes from India. Seriously we have the globe covered. Also...my brother in law was born in the US but his parents were from Ireland.

I don't know what his real problem is with this commercial but it is not filled with understanding of the "world we live in today" There are white grandmas who have bi-racial grandchildren. The comments are just out and out racist.
