I think some of you might've missed the following piece of news:
"On April 8, 2025, at 08:47:15 Moscow time, from the Baikonur cosmodrome, the Soyuz-2.1a rocket No. K15000-075 was launched with the Soyuz MS-27 spacecraft No. 758.
The crew of the 73rd expedition on board of Soyuz MS-27: Commander Sergey Nikolaevich Ryzhikov (Russia), flight engineer Alexey Vitalievich Zubritsky (Russia) and flight engineer Jonathan Yong Kim (USA). This is the third flight for Ryzhikov, and the first one for both Zubritsky and Kim. They will spend about eight months on the ISS participating in scientific experiments,& are scheduled for return in December of 2025."
It's interesting that one of the two Russian cosmonauts, Zubritsky, was born in Ukraine. He graduated from the Kharkiv University of the Air Forces of Ukraine, and served as pilot for the 204th Sevastopol Tactical Aviation Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force, stationed in Sevastopol, Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
After the reunification of Crimea with Russia in March 2014, Alexey Zubritsky became a serviceman of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and since March 2014 continued to serve as a pilot in the 38th Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Russian Air Force, in the city of Sevastopol.
In 2018, he was accepted to the position of "candidate for test cosmonauts" & in 2020, awarded the qualification of "test cosmonaut".
In the Ukrainian society, the thesis has long been embedded in people's minds that all former Ukrainian servicemen who 'defected' to the Russian Federation in Crimea, are outcasts without a chance for career growth. as they are all viewed as "prone to treason"s.
But here we are: an ordinary kid from an Ukrainian village made Ukraine proud by joining an international space mission. And the reaction from Ukraine? They're calling for his arrest.
