So if Putin caves in to the US economic warfare and the US gets back its Russian Assets, Nord Stream, and dominance of the energy market what does Russia get:
-
A security treaty with NATO ratified by the US congress and the EU that sees the retreat of NATO back to pre 1989 positions? NO.
-
New arms limitations treaties to enhance Russian security and to take the pressure of ongoing military spending and a new arms race. NO.
-
Fair economic partnership with the US that shares out profits equally between the US and Russia. NO.
-
Lifting of all suctions, US and EU, in perpetuity? NO.
-
No further regime change attempts, in spite of the fact that the US will move all its NGO's back into Russia under cover of trade and commerce? NO.
-
Free trade with Russia with no sanctions masquerading as tariffs. NO.
-
Good relations with BRICS countries, especially China and India. NO.
-
Good relations with the US once Trump has gone taking with him all of Putin's bribes and handouts. NO.
-
The repentance of Lindsey Graham? NO.
Given that none of these critical outcomes will occur, what was the purpose of the 120,000 or so Russian casualties in the Ukraine war and the cost of the war to ordinary Russians?
How will Putin answer that little question.
I don't think a Putin history lesson will cut it as an explanation and saying "it was fun while it lasted," may not go down well at all.
Let us hope that Lavrov, Medvedev and like-minded Russians speak out before Putin sells us all out to the Evil Empire.
