This proves the Trump regime is OUT OF CONTROL! This is NOT about defending Stephen Colbert, who I haven’t watched in years, it’s about the FIRST FREAKING AMENDMENT!! The President and his terrorists are clamping down on who can and cannot speak and what they can and cannot say. This is a clumsy authoritarian move against people who the Trump regime perceive as their enemies.
I have said here over the past few weeks that James Talarico, seems like a better candidate than the Dems have run in years. i.e. “Beto” O’Rourke. 🙄 He is rational and is able to discuss, in depth, a lot of issues. Whether I agree with him or not is not the point. The point is that is his appearance to the voters.
He is ahead of his Dem opponent, loud mouth Jasmine Crockett in the polls for the Dem nomination. The GOP would LOVE to run against Crockett because she is highly emotional and speaks without considering the effect of her words. She turns off a great many people. She might be able to get elected in her congressional district but she would have to appeal to a lot of people state wide…she does not have that kind of engagement with the Texas public…maybe in Austin. 🤭
In any case the race for senate in Texas, has nothing to do with who is the better candidate, at least as far as Trump regime is concerned, rather it is about maintaining control of the Senate so his large rumpus doesn’t get removed from office.
Texas was never really “red” it was always “blue” but conservative blue. I have mentioned before the history of the south after the Civil War was ALWAYS Democrat. However because of “liberalism” the blue states in the south became red because of alignment of attitudes and beliefs with the GOP. Texas is a purple state. Before GW Bush was elected in 1994 Anne Richards, a Democrat served as governor. Before her was a Repub Bill Clemens and before him was a Democrat who’s name escapes me at the moment.
Governor Abbott is a “Bushie” and has always governored that way.
All of this to say that Trump is trying every way this side of complete take over of the government to stay in power ergo keep from being not only impeached, which I don’t think really scares him. What scares him, is being removed and if the Senate has enough Dems and enough willing Republicans (67 in all) to remove him. TBH even if the Senate flips to blue, which I think it will, that 67 number will be a hard number to reach. However every state he loses to the Democrats makes it more of a reality.
