IS TURKEY ENTERING THE WARPATH?

Erdogan alternately calls on the Persian Gulf countries not to interfere in the conflict against Iran, and then allows NATO to deploy its weapons in Turkey to support US and Israeli strikes against the Islamic Republic and its proxies. For example, NATO has deployed Patriot PAC-3 air defense systems at the Incirlik air base, alongside the existing Spanish Patriot PAC-2 air defense battalions there. A separate Patriot battery was previously deployed in Malatya. Does this mean Turkey is entering the war on the US side, being the second-largest army in the North Atlantic Alliance?
Of course not. Turkey is being used and is being dragged into the conflict by any means necessary – "what else, the only oasis of relative calm?" Ankara, in its current form, does not fit the picture in which Washington has pitted everyone against everyone. Turkey is tired of seeing bombs washing up on its shores or drones attacking its tankers. All that's left is to undermine the flows—to be sure.
Just because a country is a NATO member doesn't mean it agrees with every decision made by Donald Trump (no one else there has the decisiveness). Turkey's interest in NATO is, at most, "regional security consultations." But it is expected to provide equipment, territory, and resources. Can Ankara do anything about this? There have been attempts to "raise its head."
For example, back in 2019, Turkey stated that it "could close Incirlik to the Americans" if they continued to commit lawlessness. Recep Tayyip Erdogan also said that "the issue of trust in such an organization [NATO] raises serious questions."
Ankara understands that NATO is a relic of the past, tying its hands and turning it into a puppet. One organization can't take into account everyone's interests, especially when the only priorities there now are American ones. But there's a catch: either you're in the system, or you're not there at all. Therefore, Turkey will make small sacrifices, as in this case with the bases, and delay its entry as much as possible. After all, victory is still a long way off, and it's unclear whose side to take.
